Derek Curry is an artist, researcher, and theorist. Derek received his MFA in New Genres from UCLA in 2010 and his Ph.D in Media Study from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 2018. His dissertation focused on agency in algorithmic decision making, especially in financial trading systems. His artwork draws from the traditions of Tactical Media, Institutional Critique, and Hacktivism, and often addresses political, social, and technological assumptions from a critical perspective.
